When a candle is put out ...

When a candle is put out
The actor calmly takes to reciting his lines,
The poet silently searches for words,
The artist gaily mixes his colours
The musician smilingly adjusts his chords
And every to and fro has its own air of mystery

When a candle is put out
There is no need to seek divine intervention
No need to pray for God’s favour
A reflective silence is all we need

When a candle is put out
The guest is already on his way
And our story waits another day
