We welcome you travellers to the Marathon!

Welcome Maratona dles Dolomites 2016
Travel has always been at the centre of man's existence. William Anderson travelling in Apollo 8 saw only one planet blue and white in the multitude of marvellous shining light - it was Mother Earth! ‘I would say that it was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen; it was Christmas Eve 1968.'

And then there was the journey of Ulysses who on his travels found both wealth and poverty, he growing in maturity and ridding himself of all things. All this is explained in the fact that when the moment to travel comes it pulls at persons and takes them to another reality. The journey itself is a discovery of new places, but also one of dialogue, of enrichment, of lasting impression. Our inner self is our prize possession: we are ourselves a realisation, a realisation with others too. The journey lightens us, frees us of pressure, liberates us from constraints, and reduces our concern to the essential elements. Rimbaud wrote of this and also had words of encouragement for us: ‘I had to travel to free myself from the thoughts which plagued my mind. The very sea I travelled on was dear to me for it seemed that it purified me and freed me from my restraints and lightened my load’.
