A fun summer of biking awaits

In the Dolomites the number of initiatives dedicated to cyclists taking place on roads closed to motorised vehicles is on the increase. Here at La Perla together with our friends from In Gamba are ready to welcome many bike enthusiasts.
Things are moving, even if later than we would have hoped, in a direction which we here at La Perla and the group of In Gamba had long hoped for and identified some time ago. Tourism by bike is an important resource which should not and cannot be underestimated
This summer there will certainly be more cyclists on the roads here in our valleys. In the Dolomites the number of initiatives dedicated to cyclists taking place on roads closed to motorised vehicles is on the increase because a new era is looming and we will have more and more cyclists here in the Dolomites, including those on e-bikes. The Sundays dedicated to bikers on the roads enjoying in peace the terrific scenery are becoming more frequent, this because the Ladin valleys are finding greater agreement on new and things are moving, even if later than we would have hoped, in a direction which we here at La Perla and the group of In Gamba had long hoped for and identified some time ago. Tourism by bike is an important resource which should not and cannot be underestimated. On the contrary it should be constantly promoted through new ideas and initiatives. innovative projects, and this leads one to hope well for the future. The most obvious example is the Dolomites Bike Day, an event not only agreed upon but strongly desired by three Ladin valleys lying in three different provinces. On Sunday 18 June the passes of Campolongo, Falzarego and Valparola will, for the first time, be closed to motorised vehicles. As well as the traditional Sellaronda Bike Day on 25 June, and the Maratona dles Dolomites on 2 July there will be 10 days of such closure – not consecutively- of the Sella Pass in July and August. Things are moving, even if later than we would have hoped, in a direction which we here at La Perla and the group of In Gamba had long hoped for and identified some time ago. Tourism by bike is an important resource which should not and cannot be underestimated. On the contrary, it should be constantly promoted through new ideas and initiatives. We are convinced that tourism by bike can bring the same satisfaction to all as involved as skiing has achieved in the winter season. Then it must be clearly said that our beloved Dolomites cannot continue to tolerate the intense movements of traffic to which it is subject to in the summer months. Take for example last August in the Gardena area when, even allowing for wet days, more than 60,000 motorised vehicles were in transit. It is an exaggeration, a madness which we for our small part want to try and avoid. This year too in our hotel the In Gamba group will be present and will be led by the ex Portuguese cycling chanpion Joao Correja. Daily itineraries will be organised so that our guests will be able to explore by bike the Dolomites passes and for a day at least feel like true professionals of the sport. As well as a team composed of ex professional riders, masseurs and mechanics, we shall have available to use the new F10 Pinarello Dogma, which is no other than the bike used by Froome. So, dear biker friends, we look forward to welcoming you here in the summer and can promise you that real fun and energetic times are to be had.
